Component Assessment

We begin by reviewing the type, dimensions, quantity and condition of the steel components, together with the required finish and intended coating system. Photographs, drawings or a steel schedule can be provided to help us assess handling requirements, preparation standards and the most appropriate blasting method.

Shot Blasting

Each component is securely positioned before being abrasive blast-cleaned to remove rust, mill scale, oxidation, old paint and surface contamination. Where specified, we can prepare the steel to ISO 8501-1 Sa 2.5 near-white metal, producing a clean, uniform surface profile that supports strong adhesion for the subsequent coating system.

Priming and Protective Coatings

Following blasting, the steel is inspected and the agreed compatible primer can be applied promptly to reduce the risk of flash rusting. Depending on the project specification, we can also apply protective paint systems, specialist coatings or finishing coats, providing fabricated steel that is prepared, protected and ready for installation or further processing.
