What is commercial shot blasting?

Shot blasting is an industrial surface preparation process that uses high-velocity steel abrasive media to remove rust, mill scale, old coatings and contaminants from metal surfaces. It is the most effective method for preparing steel to Sa 2.5 and Sa 3 standards prior to painting or coating.

What commercial surfaces can Premier Blasting treat?

We work on structural steelwork, steel fabrications, fire escapes, containers, storage tanks, cladding, roller shutters, gates, railings, doors and industrial floors. If it's metal or concrete and needs preparing, we can blast it.

Do you work on live commercial sites?

Yes, we are fully mobile. We regularly work on live commercial and industrial sites, including warehouses, manufacturing facilities and construction projects. We plan our work to minimise disruption to your operations.

What surface preparation standard do you work to?

We work to Sa 2.5 (near white metal) as standard, which is required by most protective coating specifications. We can also work to Sa 3 (white metal) where specified.

Do you offer nationwide coverage?

Yes — we cover England and Wales. We operate mobile shot blasting units that can be deployed to your site, wherever you are located.

What preparation is required before shot blasting begins?

We'll carry out a site visit to assess the project and advise on any preparation needed. Generally, loose material, oil or grease should be removed beforehand. We handle everything else.

Will shot blasting cause dust or mess on site?

Shot blasting produces debris and spent media which we contain and remove as part of our service. We take site cleanliness seriously and leave the area tidy on completion.

Can you apply protective coatings after blasting?

Yes — we offer full surface preparation and painting/coating packages, so you don't need to manage separate contractors. We can prime, paint and apply intumescent coatings to specification.
